- Magellan Explorer is a filemanager for Windows 95/98, NT 4.0 and
- Windows 2000. In addition to being capable of performing the basic
- functionality already found in Windows Explorer, Magellan Explorer
- offers a wide range of functions, features and modes to make your file
- management easy and flexible. Among these are:

- o Opens Zip, Rar and Ace files as folders

- o History and bookmarks just as in a web browser

- 2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

- In order to run Magellan Explorer, your system must meet these
- specifications:

- o An IBM PC or compatible that meets the minimum hardware
- requirements for your version of Microsoft Windows.

- o Windows NT 4.0 (or higher) or Windows 95/98 installed and
- configured on your system.

- o You need the Wininet.dll library. Most systems already have it
- installed, but it is included with the Magellan Explorer
- package and will be installed if you need it.

- Complete drag and drop support!

- Magellan Explorer now supports drag and drop regardless of where are
- dragging to, or from. Create shortcuts by dragging files to the
- desktop, download files and backup your data, all using this simple
- method. You can even drag files from within archives directly onto
- FTP sites, and the other way around.

- The new version comes with both a small and fast text viewer and an
- advanced multi-format viewer based on ActiveX technology.

- Copy and Move is now up to twice as fast as "Windows Explorer" and
- previous versions of Magellan Explorer. It doesn't stop there. The
- Find tool is up to 10 times faster than before.

- enables Magellan Explorer to bypass file system cache, and read and

- The Magellan Explorer Help file contains all of the information
- you'll need in order to use Magellan Explorer.

- To access the help, please select Help from the Magellan Explorer
- menu (press Alt-H or click on Help), then select Help Contents from
- the dropdown menu.

- If you are having a problem with Magellan Explorer, don't hesitate

- Please follow these instructions on how to proceed.

- o First of all make sure your problem isn't covered in the help
- file located in your Magellan Explorer folder.

- necessary that you supply us with some standard information about
- your system.

- Please record your Magellan Explorer version number, Windows
- version, and the basic hardware specification about your hardware
- (RAM size, display adapter and CPU type and speed).

- 5. KNOWN PROBLEMS OR LIMITATIONS

- All the items on this list are being worked on and will be fixed in
- later releases.

- o If you use ACD System's PicaView utility under Microsoft
- Windows 98 and get no thumbnail in the context menu please
- check 'Compability Mode' in PicaView's Options.
-
- o If you have the original versions of some system libraries
- that shipped with the first release of Microsoft Windows 95
- Magellan Explorer is unable to display the Filter dialog and
- Order Wizard. This does not apply to Windows NT 4.0 or
- Windows 98.
-
- To correct this problem reinstall Magellan Explorer and make
- sure you install the updated Common Control libraries.
-
- o Batch files started by custom tools will keep their command
- window open until the user manually closes it. To make the
- window automatically close when the batch file completes
- put "command.com" in the Command field and "/C " in front of
- the batch file in the Arguments field (both without the quotes).

- 6. INSTALLING AND UNINSTALLING INSTRUCTIONS

- The Magellan Explorer installation program is a Microsoft Windows
- application.

- You must have Microsoft Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0 (or higher)
- installed prior to installing Magellan Explorer.

- Please perform the following steps:

- 1. Start Windows, if you haven't already done so.
-
- 2. Double-click on the installation executable to start the
- installation wizard.

- 3. Follow the instructions given in the Wizard.

- Uninstall

- If after installing Magellan Explorer, you find it necessary
- to remove the software from your computer, perform the following steps:

- 1. Open the Windows Control Panel

- 2. Open the Add/Remove Programs applet from Control Panel.

- 3. Select 'Magellan Explorer' from the list of applications that can
- uninstalled by Windows.
-
- 4. Click on the Add/Remove button to uninstall it.

- You may use this evaluation version on each of up to 30 separate
- days, after which you must either purchase a license or remove it
- from your system.

- the license owner will also appear in the About box. In addition
